Rep. Salud Carbajal, who has served in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 24th District since 2017, expressed concerns regarding recent activities by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on the Central Coast over the weekend. In a series of tweets, Carbajal shared his apprehensions about potential impacts on local communities due to the Trump Administration's immigration policies.

On January 27, 2025, Carbajal stated "Mientras estamos esperando más detalles sobre la actividad de ICE en la costa central esta fin de semana, tengo profundas preocupaciones dados los meses de la retórica extremista del presidente Trump sobre las deportaciones masivas y su posible impacto en nuestra región."

Continuing his critique of the administration's approach to immigration, Carbajal tweeted "Inculcar miedo en nuestras comunidades no es una solución de nuestro sistema de inmigración, y apuntar potencialmente a las personas que han contribuido a nuestra nación durante años no hace más que llevar el miedo a las familias que solo se dedican a mejorar nuestra comunidad."
