The Office of the State Fire Marshal is proposing a hazard severity zone increase in the Paso Robles region. Any increase in severity levels will impact our building codes, fire codes, insurance premiums, and construction costs.

Here is a template letter I referenced during my recent Fire Hazard Severity Zone presentation to City Council and to the Chamber of Commerce.

If you would like to send in your comments, the Office of the State Fire Marshal is providing a written comment period for State Responsibility Area Fire Hazard Severity Zones until April 4, 2023.

Comment can be made through email at FHSZcomments@fire.ca.gov or submitted by U.S. mail to the following address:

Office of the State Fire MarshalC/O: FHSZ CommentsCalifornia Department of Forestry and Fire ProtectionP.O. Box 944246Sacramento, CA 94244-2460Please help in disseminating this information. The consequence of these proposed changes is significant to our region and residents.

Thank you,

Jonathan Stornetta
