Rep. Salud Carbajal, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California's 24th district since 2017, recently shared his views on various issues through a series of tweets. The congressman, who succeeded Lois Capps and previously served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, provided updates and opinions on matters affecting his constituents.
On February 4, 2025, Rep. Carbajal warned residents about impending weather conditions in the Central Coast region. He advised caution while driving due to expected rain and encouraged staying informed through local emergency services. "Rain is expected this week up & down parts of the Central Coast! Use caution when driving and stay alert using your county's emergency services."
Later that day, Carbajal criticized former President Donald Trump regarding water management decisions that he claimed could negatively impact California communities and agricultural supplies. He stated: "Donald Trump knows as much about running water as he knows about running a university. This release actually risked flooding California communities, won't even touch LA, and now limits supplies for farmers come summertime."
In another tweet posted on February 4, Carbajal highlighted the actions of House Democrats in opposing tariffs proposed by Trump that he argued would have increased consumer prices. He emphasized their efforts in advocating for American interests: "For the 2nd time in a week, @HouseDemocrats stood up for the American people and @POTUS backed down. Don't be fooled by “concessions” that were already in the works/have been regularly offered in the past. Trump's tariffs would've raised prices, and he saw us calling him out."
