Rep. Salud Carbajal, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 24th district since 2017, recently addressed several important issues through a series of tweets. Carbajal, born in Moroleón, Guanajuato and currently residing in Santa Barbara, has a history of public service including his tenure on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017.
On January 24, 2025, Rep. Carbajal reminded DACA recipients that they remain protected and authorized to work regardless of their state of residence. He emphasized the importance of renewing applications promptly: " If you are a DACA recipient: you are still protected, authorized to work, and can renew your protections, regardless of what state you live in."
Later that day, he reiterated this message in Spanish to ensure it reached a broader audience: "Si eres beneficiario de DACA: aún estás protegido, autorizado para trabajar y puedes renovar tus proteciones, independientemente del estado en el que vives."
In another tweet on the same day, Carbajal criticized former President Donald Trump for allowing individuals convicted of attacking police officers during the events on January 6 to return to communities. He questioned Trump's commitment to law enforcement with his statement: "There's no rewriting January 6... Whatever happened to backing the blue?"
