TYPE OF INCIDENT: Arrest Made for Loan Fraud

DATE AND TIME OF INCIDENT: March 3, 2022

PLACE OF OCCURRENCE:  SESLOC, 3800 Block of Broad Street, San Luis Obispo

SUSPECT:  Gary Nelson, 27-year-old resident of Bakersfield

On February 23, 2022, San Luis Obispo Police Department Detectives were contacted by a SESLOC Federal Credit Union regarding people who were applying for personal loans with fictitious and/or altered documents. 

On March 3, 2022, the San Luis Obispo Police Department conducted an operation at SESLOC on Broad Street in San Luis Obispo.  During the operation, the suspect, later identified as S/Gary NELSON, walked into SESLOC and signed loan documentation under false pretenses. Detectives monitored the transaction and contacted Nelson as he walked outside. He was arrested for theft/fraud under false pretense, penal code section 532(a) and was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail. This investigation is on-going.
