CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO: Changes Coming to SLO Transit Route Schedules Next Week

Bus

City of San Luis Obispo issued the following announcement on Jan. 26.

To provide more reliable service to the community amid a continued shortage of bus drivers, SLO Transit is making additional route schedule changes to its academic service starting Sunday, Jan. 30.

The changes will be effective until further notice.

“We strive to provide reliable service for the community and can only continue doing that with the ongoing driver shortage by changing and suspending some of our routes,” said Transit Manager Austin O’Dell. “Every effort is being made to recruit drivers to eventually restore service. In the meantime, we recommend that riders contact transit dispatch at (805) 541-2877 for current service status prior to planning their bus trip. Riders may need to take an earlier bus to avoid overcrowding.”

  • Route 1A will operate Academic Service from 6:15 AM – 10:00 PM

  • San Luis Tripper (SLT), Laguna Tripper (LT), Highland Tripper (HT), 6 Express (6X), and  Trolley will continue to be suspended
Currently, to accommodate higher ridership levels on weekday mornings, Route 3B timepoints have been modified to leave the Transit Center five minutes early at 7:40 AM and serve timepoints five minutes early until arriving at Laguna Middle at 8:08 AM. Route 3B departs Laguna Middle at 8:13 AM and continues a normal schedule.

SLO Transit first made similar adjustments to its routes in September 2021 when the driver shortage started impacting transit services.
