With Election Day quickly approaching, the City of Grover Beach encourages all residents to make their voices heard this election season. The November municipal election marks the first district-based election for the City of Grover Beach, and District 1 and District 2 seats as well as the at-large Mayoral seat are up for election.
On March 28, 2022, the City Council adopted Ordinance No. 22-02, implementing a four-district election system. Rather than voting for all City Council Members in at-large citywide elections, residents will now vote for one City Council Member who lives in their district. The Mayoral seat still remains at-large for a two-year term, meaning all Grover Beach residents vote for the Mayor. Council Members will continue to serve four-year terms that expire at staggered intervals.
The candidates running in the upcoming election are:
Mayoral Candidates: Karen Bright, Stacy Korsgaden
City Council District 1 Candidate: Robert Robert
City Council District 2 Candidates: Daniel Rushing, Ron Arnoldsen
City Council seats in Districts 3 and 4 will be up for election in 2024. Grover Beach residents can see which district they reside in using the interactive map on the Grover Beach website.
The County of San Luis Obispo (SLO) will begin mailing all registered voters their ballots by October 10. Those who are not registered to vote can register on the California Online Voter Registration website by October 24. SLO County’s election webpage also has many resources for voters, including voter information guides, where to vote, election result information, ballot measures in SLO County and much more.
Grover Beach voters can submit their vote by mail, in a local ballot drop box or in-person on November 8. If residents decide to mail their ballots, the ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, November 8. The U.S. Postal Service encourages voters to mail their ballots at least seven days before Election Day. Grover Beach residents may sign up for California’s Where’s My Ballot tracking tool to keep track of their personal ballots.
In partnership with SLO County, Grover Beach also has an official designated ballot drop box location at City Hall that will be open starting on October 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The drop box is locked and secured with camera surveillance and brought inside City Hall every night.
The five voting centers where residents can vote in-person or drop off their ballots will be open from 7 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Election Day:

The Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Candidate Forum on October 13 at 6 p.m. via Zoom to introduce the five candidates running in this municipal election. Residents are invited to attend the forum to learn more about each candidate.
“The candidate forum gives our community an opportunity to learn more about the candidates as well as their values and concerns,” said Grover Beach City Manager Matthew Bronson. “Residents are encouraged to attend the forum to help them cast an informed vote this election and have a say in our City’s future.”
