A competition open to students interested studying the Asian healing arts

SOUTH BAYLO UNIVERSITY, the oldest university in the United States offering master’s and doctoral degrees in Acupuncture and Herbal and Oriental Medicine is announcing a competition open to students interested studying the Asian healing arts. The First-Place winner will receive a 100% Scholarship and “Honors at Entrance” for all course and clinical work required for achievement of South Baylo University’s MSAOM degree. The Second-Place winner will receive a 40% Scholarship and “Honors at Entrance” for all course and clinical work required for achievement of  South Baylo University’s MSAOM degree. The Third-Place winner will receive a 20% Scholarship and “Honors at Entrance” for all course and clinical work required for achievement of South Baylo University’s MSAOM degree;

Contestants must submit written answers to the following three questions:

  1. What do Acupuncture and Herbal and Oriental Medicine mean to you?
  2. Why do you want to study the Asian healing arts?
  3. Why should the South Baylo University grant you a 100% scholarship?
The length of contest answers is left to the good judgment of each contestant and will be subject to judgment by the Competition Review Committee. Consistently thoughtful, compelling, and organized answers will be favored. Answers that are verbose or repetitive will be disfavored.

The competition is open to (a) all individuals who meet the minimum criteria for admission to South Baylo University, including at least sixty semester credits or ninety quarter credits from any accredited college or university and (b)  Individuals who are not currently enrolled at nor have been dismissed from South Baylo University.

Contest Answers can be submitted in Korean, Chinese,  or Vietnamese as well as English. Contest Answers must be submitted to the attention of the South Baylo University 2022 Competition Committee at sbucompetition2022@southbaylo.edu .  South Baylo University will accept Contest Answers beginning August 1, 2022 and continuing until 11:59 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Sunday, September 18, 2022. Competition winners will be announced Thursday, September 28, 2022.

To receive and maintain their prizes each winner must:

  • Enroll at South Baylo University;
  • Become and remain a student in good standing;
  • Enroll in a minimum of 12 units classes at South Baylo University per quarter;
  • When qualified to do so, complete a minimum of 120 hours of clinical work per quarter;
  • Maintain a GPA of not less than 3.5 at South Baylo University for the prior four quarters
  • Complete all course and clinical work for a MSAOM degree within 4 years; and
  • To the extent a break is needed, apply to the Academic Dean and state good cause.
With the largest number of alumni in the United States, South Baylo University is one of the most prestigious graduate universities providing master’s and doctoral degrees in the Asian healing arts.
