Rep. Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congressman representing California's 24th district, has shared significant developments regarding the impact of space launch noise on nearby communities, including those near Vandenberg Space Force Base (SFB). His series of tweets highlight new congressional language and efforts to address these concerns.

On December 13, 2024, Rep. Carbajal announced via Twitter that Congress has approved language acknowledging the effects of noise from space launches on local communities. He stated, "For the first time ever, Congress has approved language acknowledging the impact that noise from space launches is having on nearby communities—including Central Coast communities near Vandenberg SFB." Carbajal emphasized his commitment to addressing this growing concern in his region.

In a subsequent tweet posted moments later, Rep. Carbajal elaborated on his role in securing this language through his position with the House Armed Services Committee Democrats (@HASCDemocrats). He noted that it requires action from the Pentagon to mitigate sonic booms and other disturbances: "The language I secured through my role on @HASCDemocrats also compels the Pentagon to act on mitigating the impacts of sonic booms and other disturbances."

Continuing his advocacy for community interests and national security balance, Rep. Carbajal tweeted about ongoing collaboration efforts with key stakeholders. On December 13, he mentioned working with Vandenberg leadership and regional residents: @HASCDemocrats I will continue working with the leadership at Vandenberg, the Department of the Air Force, and my region’s residents to pursue win-win solutions that protect both national security and the serenity of the Central Coast.
