Human Services Grant Application Now Available

Nonprofit organizations have an opportunity to request grant funding for programs, services and projects that help community members in need in the City of San Luis Obispo. The deadline to apply for the Human Services Grant is Friday, January 27, 2023 by 5 p.m. 

The City of San Luis Obispo Human Relations Commission (HRC) has today opened its Human Services Grant application period and will award up to $150,000 in grant funding for the 2023-24 fiscal year primarily to programs and services that focus on homeless prevention. The Commission will also prioritize services focused on hunger and malnutrition prevention; physical and mental health for those in need; seniors, veterans, or people with disabilities in need; children and youth in need; and marginalized communities in need. 

The City's Human Relations Commission Human Services Grant program provides financial support to non-profit organizations that promote the economic and social well-being of the citizens of San Luis Obispo. Grant funding will be awarded as early as August 2023 for the 2023-24 fiscal year. 

Last year, the HRC awarded a total of $150,000 in funding through the Human Services Grant Program to the following nonprofits: 

  • 5Cities Homeless Coalition
  • Access Support Network
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Luis Obispo County
  • City Farm SLO
  • Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo
  • Community Counseling Center (CCC) of San Luis Obispo
  • Court Appointed Special Advocates of San Luis Obispo County, Inc.
  • Cuesta College Foundation
  • Food Bank Coalition of San Luis Obispo County
  • Hospice of San Luis Obispo County
  • Literacy for Life Organization
  • Long Term Care Ombudsman Services of San Luis Obispo County
  • Lumina Alliance
  • Meals That Connect
  • One Cool Earth
  • People’s Self-Help Housing Corporation
  • Pregnancy and Parenting Support (Formally ALPHA)
  • R.A.C.E. Matters SLO
  • San Luis Obispo Children’s Museum
  • San Luis Obispo Committee for Educations on Alcoholism, dba “MiddleHouse”
  • San Luis Obispo Legal Assistance Foundation
  • Senior Volunteer Services
  • Shower the People
  • SLO Noor Foundation
  • Smart Share Housing Solutions, Inc.
  • The San Luis Obispo Child Development Resource Center
  • Tolosa Children’s Dental Center
  • United Way
