Vanguard University (VU), the first four-year college in Orange County, announces that it has secured its highest ranking to date on U.S. News & World Report’s Regional Universities West category. Released on September 12, 2022, the 2022-2023 “Best Colleges” report lists VU as number 35, up from its previous ranking of 46. Additional rankings that VU secured include #13 in Top Performers on Social Mobility, #20 in Best Colleges for Veterans and #28 in Best Value Schools.
With more than 15 measures of widely accepted indicators of excellence, the annual U.S. News & World Report "Best Colleges" rankings provide data-driven information and guidance to help prospective students and their families understand their higher education options.
“We’re delighted to receive our highest ranking to date on U.S. News & World Report’s annual ‘Best Colleges’ list. This distinction speaks to the quality of our faculty and staff, who have remained true to both our Christ-centered mission and academic excellence” said Dr. Michael Beals, president, Vanguard University. “Our new rank validates the transformational education we offer students to prepare them for a Spirit-empowered life of Christ-centered leadership and service. This news creates further excitement to what is currently taking place at Vanguard – as just this academic year we welcomed our largest incoming combined freshman and transfer class in history, and have been moving forward with exciting campus improvements as set forth in our 30-year campus master plan.”
The 30-year campus master plan was approved by the City of Costa Mesa in 2019. Since its adoption, the University has moved rapidly on implementation: The opening of the two-story, 42,000 sq. ft. Waugh Student Center on February 28, 2020, marked the completion of the first phase of “Imagine: The Campaign for Vanguard University.” Following the second component of the campus master plan—the recently completed construction of the new campus monument sign and perimeter fencing, the University broke ground this summer on the three-story, 60,000 sq. ft. Freed Center for Leadership and Service.
