CITY OF EL PASO DE ROBLES: Paso Robles Seeking Input on Niblick Road Bike Path

Survey

City of El Paso De Robles issued the following announcement on Mar. 21.

The City of Paso Robles is seeking input from residents on how, when and why they use Niblick Road, in hopes of getting a grant to build a protected bike and walking path on Niblick from Creston Road all the way to the end of the bridge. Surveys have been created to gather input to submit with the grant application in June.

“Niblick Road is one of the most important streets in Paso Robles, connecting the east and west sides of the City and connecting residents to Paso Robles High School and several shopping areas,” states Ditas Esperanza, Capital Projects Engineer for the City, and project manager for the grant application. “The City is working to make Niblick Road a safer and more comfortable place to walk and bike, which will have the added benefit of cutting down on car traffic.”

The City wants to create a two-way separated path for bicyclists and pedestrians along Niblick Road from Spring Street to Creston Road, as shown in the images here. Other changes proposed for Niblick Road are adding sidewalks from Rambouillet Road to Creston Road to complete the sidewalks along both sides of the street.

“The grant that the City is applying for is competitive but if we can prove that residents walk or bike on Niblick to get work, school or shopping, then we will have a good chance of getting funding,” says Barry Bergman, the grant writer for the project. “So if you see flyers or postcards about the survey, please take 5 minutes to fill it out, it could make a lot of difference.”
