CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO: Volunteer Now for Open Positions on City Advisory Bodies

City of San Luis Obispo issued the following announcement on Oct. 19. 

The City is now accepting applications for voluntary positions on the following Advisory Bodies to fill unscheduled vacancies. The Advisory Bodies are groups of volunteers who advise City Council and staff on matters that affect policy and the future of our community. 

  • Planning Commission (one position): Help shape San Luis Obispo in the future by applying to serve on the City’s Planning Commission for the remainder of a four-year term ending in March 2024. This seven-member commission meets twice each month to review projects under development and recommend to City Council changes to City ordinances related to the general plan, specific plans, and development review. Members must be residents and registered voters of the City.
  • Cultural Heritage Committee (two positions): Do you have knowledge of or an interest in architecture and local archaeology? Apply to join this seven-member committee to help preserve San Luis Obispo’s historical and cultural buildings and locations. This committee meets once a month and these openings are for the remainder of a four-year term ending in March 2023, and March 2025, respectively.
  • Jack House Committee (one position): Are you Cal Poly current or former faculty member from the school of horticulture or landscape architecture? Apply now to fill an open position on the City’s Jack House Committee to protect and preserve the history and integrity of the Historic Jack House and Gardens in downtown SLO. Join this seven-member committee every other month for the open four-year term.
  • Tree Committee (two positions): Do you have expertise in horticulture? Apply now to serve on the City’s Tree Committee to recommend to City Council and staff tree policy and regulation updates. This seven-member committee meets once a month and these open positions are for the remainder of a four-year term ending in March 2023 or 2024, respectively.
