CITY OF ATASCADERO: Tournament Results for the 5th Annual Showdown Cornhole Tournament!

City of Atascadero issued the following announcement on Sept. 20. 

On Friday and Saturday, September 17th & 18th, the City of Atascadero sponsored the 5th Annual Showdown Cornhole Tournament presented by Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis Club of Atascadero.

This year, the two-day tournament kicked off at the Ravine Waterpark in Paso Robles on Friday with sixteen teams and the main tournament in the Sunken Gardens in Atascadero on Saturday with 64 Teams! A total of 160 participants played this year between both venues and a ton of fun for the spectators. Both days were filled with different experiences from the new miniature golf course at the Ravine to the live music on Saturday by the Deja-Vu Band, and DJ Manuel Medina with Medina Light Show & Designs. A special thanks to the Ravine Water Park for hosting on Friday, and to everyone who participated on Saturday with Lighthouse Coffee, Boy Scout Troop 51, Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis grilling up hamburgers. Cornhole participants attended from all over San Luis Obispo County, as well as San Diego, the Bay Area, and the Central Valley.

Each year there are two brackets, the top tier players, the “A” Bracket, and the second tier players, the “B” Bracket. Here are the results:

"A" Bracket

1st Place: Cali Bags – Paul (Eric) Cruz and John Fent -- Fresno

2nd Place: Team Bro - Tommy Holguin and Joe Holguin--Santa Barbara

3rd Place:  The 410's - Bryan Fortin and Emily Fortin (Father/ Daughter team) -- Santa Maria

4th Place: Shuck Gang - Scott Tirre and Jacob Ferguson--Nipomo

"B" Bracket

1st Place: Neighbors – Daniel Soto and Bill Van Horbek – Paso Robles

2nd Place: Corn Kings – David Marchell and Jeff Bernal – Santa Margarita

3rd Place: Edumicators - Jason Diodati and Tyler LaSalle -- Atascadero

4th Place: Idler's Home Washer Bags - Cody Miler and Anthony Gonzales--Paso Robles

For those that participated in the tournament, the “most points” toss, and the costume contest, a total of $1,410 in cash prizes were provided. Approximately $6,000 in proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of the Mid Central Coast and Atascadero Boy Scout Troop #51. Thank you to everyone for participating and bringing this fun event to the City of Atascadero!
