On June 2, 2022, at 12:34 a.m., Buena Park Police Officers responded to the 6100 block of Orangethorpe Avenue regarding a stabbing. When the officers arrived, they located a female victim with fourteen stab wounds. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
During the investigation, officers identified the suspect as the victim’s ex-boyfriend, Gerber Efrain Canizalez-Estrada (date of birth 04-03-1982). Estrada fled before officers arrived. Buena Park Police Detectives obtained a warrant for Estrada for attempted murder.
Buena Park Police Department detectives contacted the United States Marshals Service to assist in locating Estrada. On July 27, 2022, United States Marshals located Estrada in the state of Indiana. He was arrested and held pending extradition back to Orange County, California, where he will be facing an attempted murder allegation.
