Seven Cal Poly basketball players were recognized on Apr. 14 as members of the Big West Winter Academic All-Conference team, with the men’s program achieving a program record of four selections.
The recognition highlights the academic achievements of student-athletes who maintained at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average through the most recent academic term and competed in at least half of their team’s games. True freshmen and first-year transfers were not eligible for this honor.
From the men’s basketball team, sophomore guard Peter Bandelj, who averaged 13.0 points per game and previously earned an All-Big West honorable mention award, was among those honored. He was joined by sophomore Guzman Vasilic (7.6 points per game; 17 starts), junior Jackson Mosley (6.5 points per game in 17 appearances), and junior Kieran Elliott (4.9 points per game; 10 starts).
On the women’s side, sophomore guard Jordan Billing (16 starts in 26 appearances) was recognized along with sophomore forwards Avery Knapp, who had an 83.3 percent free throw mark and averaged 4.0 points per game, and Nora Perez, who contributed an average of 5.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
All seven honorees received their first career Big West Winter Academic All-Conference team selection on Tuesday.
