Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district, has shared his thoughts on recent events via social media. Carbajal, who succeeded Lois Capps in 2017 and has a history of public service dating back to his time on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017, took to Twitter to express condolences and opinions regarding current issues.
On May 22, 2025, Carbajal expressed sympathy for the families of Yaron and Sarah following their deaths in an antisemitic attack outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington D.C. “My heart goes out to the families of Yaron and Sarah—two dedicated public servants who were taken in a senseless act of antisemitic terror outside the Capital Jewish Museum in DC. We mourn their loss alongside their loved ones and colleagues.”
In another tweet posted on May 23, 2025, he criticized House Republicans for passing legislation that he described as harmful to residents of California’s Central Coast. “This morning, House Republicans passed a ridiculous, shameful, and cruel bill that will rip away health care and food assistance for thousands of Central Coast residents. I will continue fighting back.”
Later on May 23rd, Carbajal reflected on past violence while advocating for gun safety laws. He remembered those lost during the Isla Vista attack over a decade ago. “Today, we remember the six lives tragically lost in the 2014 Isla Vista attack. We must honor their memories by not giving up the fight for commonsense gun safety laws. On the Central Coast and across the nation, our communities deserve better—and I won’t stop until they are safe”
Carbajal’s messages underscore ongoing concerns about antisemitism, legislative decisions affecting healthcare access, and community safety through gun law reforms.
