Salud Carbajal was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato, in 1964 and has lived in Santa Barbara since his family immigrated to the United States. An alumnus of the University of California, Santa Barbara, he graduated with a BA in 1990 and previously served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017.
