Rep. Salud Carbajal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 24th district, recently shared his views on social media concerning several political figures and policies. Carbajal, who has served in this role since 2017 after succeeding Lois Capps, brings insights from his previous experience with the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, where he served from 2005 to 2017.

In a post dated April 29, 2025, Carbajal referenced the Women, Peace, and Security Act, crediting Secretary Kristi Noem for writing the act during her time in the House. He also acknowledged Secretary Marco Rubio’s support in the Senate and Donald Trump’s enactment of the legislation during his initial term as President. Carbajal then questioned if Pete Hegseth would label these officials as “woke left-wing.”

Later the same day, Carbajal commented on President Trump’s performance, particularly regarding his campaign promise. He stated, “100 days in and Trump has not fulfilled his number one promise: to bring down the cost of living.” He criticized Trump for not taking action to reduce the costs of essential needs and accused him of focusing on increasing prices instead.

In a follow-up on April 30, 2025, Carbajal expressed his support for the Department of Defense but raised concerns regarding its leadership. He remarked, “I fully support the Department of Defense and the critical mission it carries out. However, I wouldn’t trust Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth with $150 — let alone $150 billion.” This sentiment reflects his skepticism about Hegseth’s handling of defense resources.

Carbajal, born in Moroleón, Guanajuato, in 1964, has a background in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, completed in 1990. Residing in Santa Barbara now, he continues to impact national politics through his social media presence and congressional work.
