Rep. Salud Carbajal, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district, posted a series of updates on April 9, 2026, highlighting his engagements with local transportation and community organizations in the Ventura and Santa Barbara areas.
On April 9, Carbajal shared details of a meeting with Rob Himoto, President of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad. He stated: “I met with Rob Himoto, President of the Santa Maria Valley Railroad, to discuss how skyrocketing diesel costs are straining their operations. This railroad is a lifeline for local businesses, but fuel hikes driven by Trump’s Iran war are pushing them to the brink. I’m fighting to” (posted April 9, 2026).
Later that day, Carbajal described an encounter with volunteers from the Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL), writing: “It was great meeting with Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL) volunteers to learn how their boutique thrift store supports the CARL rescue dog adoption program in the Ventura community. I thank them for their commitment to helping abandoned dogs find permanent homes.” (posted April 9, 2026).
In another post on April 9, he announced upcoming improvements in regional transportation: “Exciting news: commuter rail service between Ventura and Santa Barbara launches next month! Having pushed for this project’s funding back when I was County Supervisor, I’m proud to see it cross the finish line.
