Rep. Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, recently made several public statements on his social media account addressing topics ranging from sports predictions to federal funding and national politics.
On April 5, 2026, Carbajal commented on the NCAA basketball championship outcome: “When asked 2 weeks ago who’d win the championship, I said UCLA — I told you so!”
The following day, he announced new federal support for a local initiative: “I am thrilled to have secured critical funding for the Lompoc Animal Shelter renovation project. This federal investment ensures the shelter can continue to provide high-quality care for the dogs in its care.” This announcement reflects Carbajal’s ongoing involvement in community projects within his district.
On April 7, 2026, Carbajal addressed recent remarks by former President Donald Trump: “The President’s comments are deranged, dangerous, and if carried out — illegal. I call on Republican leadership in Congress to stop being bystanders and take action to stop Trump. We cannot have an unstable man acting with zero guardrails or accountability.”
Carbajal has represented California’s 24th District since replacing Lois Capps in 2017 and previously served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. He was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently resides in Santa Barbara. Carbajal is an alumnus of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
