Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets addressing federal funding for Santa Barbara County and his criticisms of President Trump’s foreign and domestic policies.
On April 2, 2026, Carbajal criticized the ongoing conflict involving Iran, writing, “Trump’s war in Iran is not only endangering lives, its also hitting our local economy. This is not a sustainable situation for consumers or small businesses. I will continue pushing to rein in the President’s war powers.”
The following day, he announced new federal funding secured for his district: “I am proud to have secured $4 million in federal funding for public projects across Santa Barbara County. From replacing 100-year-old bridges to expanding emergency response programs — these investments will make our community a safer place to live.” This statement highlights Carbajal’s focus on infrastructure and public safety initiatives within his constituency.
Later on April 3, Carbajal voiced opposition to the President’s proposed budget plan: “The President’s budget proposal screws over the American people twice — trillions of dollars for wars that nobody wants while investing ZERO dollars into bringing down the cost of food, housing, healthcare, and more. Our country deserves better.”
Carbajal has represented California’s 24th congressional district since 2017 after serving over a decade on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. He was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and resides in Santa Barbara. He holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
