Rep. Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, recently shared his views on several national issues via social media. His statements highlighted the importance of public service, fiscal responsibility in military spending, and legislative priorities.
On May 8, 2025, Rep. Carbajal expressed appreciation for the federal workforce during Public Service Recognition Week. He emphasized their role in “defending our nation” and “providing essential services,” while condemning recent criticisms against them. “From defending our nation to providing essential services, the federal workforce shapes millions of lives every day.”
Later that day, he criticized a proposed military parade funded by taxpayers as a misuse of resources. He supported fellow Congressman Adam Smith’s view that the military should focus on its primary mission rather than personal glorification through expensive events. “Couldn’t agree more with @RepAdamSmith.”
On May 9, Carbajal voiced his disapproval over House Republicans’ decision to prioritize renaming the Gulf of Mexico instead of addressing pressing issues such as food costs and healthcare protection. As part of the New Democrat Coalition, he reiterated his commitment to productive legislative work.“Today, House Republicans voted to rename the Gulf of Mexico instead of voting to lower food costs.”
Salud Carbajal was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently resides in Santa Barbara. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in 1990.
