Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, recently shared his thoughts on various topics through social media posts. His messages covered themes of appreciation for educators, concerns over leadership changes at the Library of Congress, and personal reflections on Mother’s Day.
On May 9, 2025, Carbajal expressed gratitude during Teacher Appreciation Week to educators in the Central Coast region. He stated, “Happy Teacher Appreciation Week to every educator on the Central Coast! Our region is a better place because of the work that you do every day to teach the next generation and equip them with the skills they need to succeed.”
Later that day, Carbajal addressed the dismissal of Dr. Carla Hayden from her position as head of the Library of Congress. He commented on this development by saying, “Dr. Carla Hayden led the Library of Congress with vision, integrity, and a deep commitment to public access and truth. Her dismissal is nothing short of authoritarian overreach. The Library should stand to serve the American people—not a president’s fragile ego.”
On May 11, 2025, Carbajal paid tribute to two important women in his life in honor of Mother’s Day. He shared his sentiments by stating, “This Mother’s Day, I honor two extraordinary women: my mother, whose love and values continue to guide me to this day, and my amazing wife, whose strength and care nurture our family every day. Happy Mother’s Day!”
Salud Carbajal was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and has lived in Santa Barbara since completing his education at the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1990.
