Rep. Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, has recently posted a series of statements on his social media addressing issues ranging from Supreme Court decisions to international security and domestic policy.
On September 21, 2025, Carbajal expressed concerns regarding a recent Supreme Court decision, stating: “Esta Corte Suprema radical le ha dado a Donald Trump luz verde para atacar a personas únicamente por el color de su piel o el idioma que hablan, incluyendo a ciudadanos estadounidenses. Ahora más que nunca, es fundamental que conozcas tus derechos al encontrarte con agentes de”.
The following day, September 22, 2025, Carbajal addressed international affairs in his capacity as Co-Chair of the Baltic Caucus. He commented on Russia’s actions towards Estonia: “As the Co-Chair of the Baltic Caucus, I strongly condemn Russia’s violation of Estonian airspace. The U.S. must stand with Estonia and our other NATO allies as a unified front against Putin’s aggression in Europe.”
On September 23, 2025, he turned attention to domestic policy under the Trump administration: “The Trump admin is ending the food insecurity survey just as it makes unprecedented cuts to food assistance. This is no coincidence.”
Carbajal has served in Congress since succeeding Lois Capps in 2017 and previously held office on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and now residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1990 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
