U.S. Representative Salud Carbajal, who serves California’s 24th district, posted a series of messages on social media between September 11 and September 14, 2025, addressing national remembrance, youth opportunities in technology, and suicide prevention.
On September 11, Carbajal commemorated the anniversary of the September 11 attacks by stating: “Today marks the 24th anniversary of the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil. As we remember the lives lost, we honor the survivors, first responders, and families whose lives were forever changed on September 11, 2001.”
Two days later, on September 13, he promoted a STEM competition for local students: “Future coders, this one’s for you. Middle & high schoolers on the Central Coast can compete in the 2025 Congressional App Challenge for a chance to have your work recognized nationally! Deadline: October 30, 2025 Sign up here: https://t.co/qHBxMWaeJp”
On September 14, Carbajal addressed mental health awareness and support resources: “Suicide prevention isn’t just about helping in moments of crisis — it’s about recognizing warning signs, promoting treatment and recovery, and building robust support networks. Together, we can save lives. If you or a loved one need help, call or text 988.”
Carbajal has represented California’s 24th district in Congress since replacing Lois Capps in 2017. Before his congressional tenure, he served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, Carbajal is an alumnus of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
