Rep. Salud Carbajal, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing California’s 24th district, has recently taken to social media to express his views on various pressing issues. His recent tweets touch upon topics such as Pride Month celebrations, a violent incident in Colorado, and international business dealings of former President Donald Trump’s company.
On June 1, Rep. Carbajal extended greetings for Pride Month with a message of inclusivity and advocacy for equality. He stated: “Happy Pride Month to all on the Central Coast and across the country! During Pride we celebrate everyone’s right to live authentically and recommit ourselves to continue the fight for equality.”
The following day, June 2, he addressed a serious incident involving violence at a peaceful march in Colorado. The march was held in support of hostages detained by Hamas but was disrupted by an attack described as antisemitic. Rep. Carbajal expressed his condolences and called for justice: “Yesterday, a peaceful march in Colorado in support of the hostages held by Hamas was met with a violent attack. My heart goes out to the victims and their families as we seek justice and full accountability for this antisemitic assault.”
On June 3, Carbajal criticized former President Trump’s business practices regarding overseas deals made by his company since November of the previous year. He pointed out what he perceives as hypocrisy given Trump’s “America First” rhetoric: “While claiming to put ‘America First,’ Trump’s company has done 12 new overseas deals since November — more than ever before. Not a single one in the U.S.”
Salud Carbajal has served California’s 24th District since replacing Lois Capps in 2017 after previously serving on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato, he is an alumnus of the University of California, Santa Barbara.
