Rep. Salud Carbajal, currently serving as a U.S. Congressman for California’s 24th district, shared his views and commitments through a series of tweets in early December 2024. Representing the Central Coast, Carbajal addressed various issues including gun violence, education funding, and economic policies.
On December 3, 2024, Rep. Carbajal reflected on the San Bernardino shooting that occurred nine years ago. He stated: “On this day nine years ago, 14 people were senselessly killed in the San Bernardino shooting.” He expressed his continued commitment to ending gun violence by saying: “Today and every day, I hold the victims and all those affected by this tragic shooting in my heart — and in their memory, I remain committed to ending gun violence once and for all.”
Later on December 3rd, Carbajal criticized MAGA extremists’ promises regarding educational policy changes. He tweeted: “MAGA extremists have promised to close @usedgov & eliminate federal support for schools.” He reassured educators like Dr. Sherril Knox from Ojai Unified School District of his dedication to fighting against cuts that could negatively impact students: “I’m making it clear to Central Coast educators like @OjaiUnified Superintendent Dr. Sherril Knox that I will always fight against harmful cuts that could hurt our students.”
On December 4th, he addressed concerns about Donald Trump’s economic plans affecting personal finances: “Donald Trump’s economic plans will raise your monthly insurance costs & make it more expensive to fix your car.” Rep. Carbajal emphasized his readiness to work towards policies aimed at reducing living costs instead of pursuing tariffs: “Rather than pursuing tariffs that are a tax on YOU, I’m ready to work in Congress to deliver real policies that lower your cost of living.”
