Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used his social media platform to address a range of national and local issues, including humanitarian aid for Gaza, community engagement in Santa Maria, and criticism of former President Donald Trump’s economic policies.
On July 31, 2025, Rep. Carbajal wrote: “Humanitarian aid should never be used as a bargaining chip. I joined my colleagues in urging the U.S. to resume funding and get lifesaving aid to civilians in Gaza.
I called for this months ago and I’ll keep pushing until we deliver this much-needed aid.” The post highlights his ongoing advocacy for continued humanitarian support to civilians affected by conflict.
Later that day, Carbajal addressed constituents directly with an announcement about an upcoming event: “Santa Maria: I’m coming your way!
I’m hosting a town hall to share updates on my work in Congress, hear directly from you, and answer your questions about the issues that matter most to our community.

Allan Hancock College, Boyd Hall
5:30 PM PST” The message invites residents of Santa Maria to participate in a town hall meeting scheduled for August 7 at Allan Hancock College.
On August 1, Carbajal commented on national economic matters with a critique of former President Trump’s actions: “Trump continues to inflict chaos on our economy. American families and businesses deserve stability—not political stunts, flip-flops, or half-baked trade deals. Enough is enough.”
Carbajal has served as the representative for California’s 24th district since replacing Lois Capps in 2017 and previously held office on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and now residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, he earned his BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1990.
