Rep. Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to address policy concerns and highlight local achievements in his constituency.
On May 1, 2026, Carbajal posted about the economic impact of federal policies on military families, stating: “Trump’s illegal tariffs and illegal war in Iran are increasing costs for all Americans — including our service members and their families. Took this photo today at the Ventura County Naval Base. Our military families shouldn’t have to pay the price for Trump’s bad policies.”
The following day, May 2, 2026, he recognized a local leader: “Sarah Aguilar of Oak View is one of our 2026 Congressional Woman of the Year honorees. In her role as Director of Santa Barbara County Animal Services, she has driven meaningful improvements in the care and protection of vulnerable animals. I presented her with this Certificate”.
On May 3, 2026, Carbajal congratulated academic leaders from his alma mater: “Congratulations to UCSB Professors Alice L. Alldredge, Lars Bildsten, and Henry T. Yang for your election to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Your groundbreaking work and academic achievements make the Central Coast (and every Gaucho) very proud.”
Carbajal has represented California’s Central Coast region in Congress since succeeding Lois Capps in 2017; prior to that he served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in 1990.
