Rep. Salud Carbajal, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, has highlighted recent activities and initiatives in his district through a series of posts on social media.
On April 13, 2026, Carbajal announced new funding for local emergency services: “I am proud to have secured $1.2 million for the Fire Station 1 Expansion Project in Santa Maria. Santa Maria’s firefighters do incredible work for the community and they deserve to have modern facilities. With this funding, the fire station will be able to expand their operations”.
The following day, April 14, he shared details from a visit to a cultural institution in the region: “Had an incredible visit to the Santa Ynez Chumash Museum and Cultural Center where I learned about their traditions, history, and relationship with the land. This is an important resource for teaching future generations about the history of the Santa Ynez Valley.”
On April 15, Carbajal addressed high school students across his district: “High school artists, this Friday is the FINAL day to submit your artwork to the Congressional Art Competition. I’m always so amazed by the artwork of students across the Central Coast, and can’t wait to see the submissions this year!”
Carbajal succeeded Lois Capps as representative of California’s 24th District in Congress after previously serving on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. He was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and resides in Santa Barbara. In addition to his legislative work, Carbajal graduated from University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in 1990.
