Rep. Salud Carbajal, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, shared updates on recent community events and observances through his social media posts this week.
On May 12, Rep. Carbajal posted a statement regarding the Platform Habitat fire: “My statement on the Platform Habitat fire.”
The following day, May 13, he visited a local retirement community in Goleta and recognized a community organizer for his service. Carbajal wrote: “I visited Maravilla Retirement Community in Goleta for a fireside chat with their residents on current events. It was great meeting Sid Krumholz, who organizes these weekly meetings. I presented him with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for his commitment to”.
On May 14, Rep. Carbajal highlighted Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by sharing: “This month is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month — a time to celebrate the achievements, history, and contributions of AANHPI communities to our country. As a member of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, I’m proud to advocate for”.
Carbajal has represented California’s 24th District in Congress since succeeding Lois Capps in 2017 and previously served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and now residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, he holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
