Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, has used his social media platform to highlight key issues impacting both the Central Coast and the nation at large. His recent posts address Black History Month, concerns over sonic booms from Vandenberg launches, and community activism against ICE.
On February 1, 2026, Carbajal posted a tribute marking Black History Month: “This Black History Month, we honor the generations of Black Americans whose courage, leadership, and resilience have strengthened our nation. From the Central Coast to communities across the country, their contributions continue to shape our shared future.”
The following day, on February 2, 2026, Carbajal raised environmental and quality-of-life concerns stemming from space launches: “Sonic booms from Vandenberg already impact Central Coast communities miles downrange — a super-heavy launch vehicle could increase the intensity of those booms. I’m urging the Air Force and Space Force leadership to address the concerns of the Central Coast as they expand launch”.
Later that same day, Carbajal commended local civic engagement in Santa Barbara: “Proud to see the Central Coast show up and make their voices heard at Santa Barbara’s Day of Action Against ICE. Peaceful protests, student walkouts, and community organizing sends a powerful message that the Central Coast will not tolerate ICE’s brutality. That’s why I’ve”.
Carbajal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Lois Capps. He previously was a member of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors for over a decade. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and now residing in Santa Barbara, Carbajal is an alumnus of UC Santa Barbara.
