Rep. Salud Carbajal, who has served California’s 24th District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared a series of tweets addressing local community initiatives and national concerns. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato, and currently residing in Santa Barbara, Carbajal has been an active figure in public service since his time on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017.

On March 15, Rep. Carbajal invited nominations for the “2025 Congressional Women of the Year” award. He encouraged recognition of women on the Central Coast whose “hard work and dedication are making a difference.” The call for nominations aims to celebrate these women’s contributions to their communities. “Do you know a local woman on the Central Coast whose hard work and dedication are making a difference? Nominate her for the 2025 Congressional Women of the Year, and let’s celebrate her contributions!”

The following day, March 16, Carbajal participated in a discussion with @TransportDems about wildfire prevention and recovery strategies. Emphasizing the impact of wildfires on the Central Coast, he expressed honor in speaking with those actively combating these disasters. “I joined @TransportDems for a discussion on how we can prevent and recover from devastating wildfires.”

On March 17, Rep. Carbajal addressed concerns over mass layoffs at NOAA by Donald Trump and Elon Musk. He criticized these actions for threatening communities nationwide and called upon Secretary Lutnick to address their negative effects. Carbajal affirmed his commitment to fighting against such detrimental cuts alongside his Democratic colleagues. “Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s mass layoffs at @NOAA threatens communities on the Central Coast and across the nation — that’s why my Democratic colleagues and I are demanding Secretary Lutnick address the devastating impact of these harmful cuts.”
