Representative Salud Carbajal of California’s 24th district, who has been serving in Congress since 2017, has recently engaged with a range of issues in his district through social media posts. These posts discuss support for local senior citizens, commentary on the national economy, and funding for AmeriCorps.
On April 30, 2025, Rep. Carbajal reported having met with the executive team of Meals That Connect in San Luis Obispo. He expressed gratitude for their ongoing support of local seniors, stating that “With SNAP and Social Security under attack, the work they do for seniors is more important than ever.” Meals That Connect is appreciated for its contribution during a time when federal support programs face pressure.
Later that day, Carbajal addressed the state of the economy, attributing economic troubles to leadership issues. He remarked on Twitter, “The numbers are clear, this is what happens to our economy when an incompetent Administration is in charge.” This statement reflects his critique of federal administrative management.
On May 1, 2025, Rep. Carbajal turned his attention to AmeriCorps volunteers and the challenges they tackle, emphasizing their role in addressing issues such as veteran support, wildfire management, and the fentanyl crisis. He criticized proposed funding cuts linked to tax benefits for wealthy individuals, pointing out that “Trump wants to slash its funding for his billionaire tax cuts—but we refuse to let that happen.” Carbajal urged the President to reconsider these reductions.
Salud Carbajal, born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and later relocating to Santa Barbara, has a longstanding public service career, including his role in the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors prior to joining Congress. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1990.
