Rep. Salud Carbajal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 24th district since 2017, has shared his perspectives on recent political actions and historical commemorations through social media. With a background in public service that includes time on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors, Carbajal has consistently engaged with current events affecting both national security and historical remembrance.

On June 5, 2025, Carbajal addressed concerns regarding the U.S. Coast Guard, stating that it “has been chronically neglected,” and criticized the Trump Administration for redirecting resources to what he described as “vanity projects.” He noted that these actions could exacerbate existing challenges faced by the Coast Guard. The matter was set to be examined by the Transportation Democrats on the same day.

Later that day, Carbajal commented on a new travel ban introduced by former President Trump. He suggested that it was an attempt to divert attention from unfavorable news coverage, saying, “Let’s be honest about Trump’s new travel ban. It’s an attempt to change the subject because he doesn’t like these headlines.”

On June 6, 2025, Carbajal took a moment to honor the anniversary of D-Day. He reflected on the significance of this historical event by paying tribute to those who participated in it: “On this day, we remember the D-Day heroes who stormed the beaches of Normandy and changed the course of history. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.”

Salud Carbajal was born in MoroleĂłn, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently resides in Santa Barbara. He holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
