Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform to criticize recent federal actions and decisions related to energy policy, military leadership, and voting rights.

On April 29, 2026, Carbajal posted: “The Trump administration is giving a private company $120 million in taxpayer dollars to NOT complete one of the long-planned wind energy projects in Morro Bay. This is yet another example of the Trump administration favoring fossil fuel companies at the expense of clean energy”. The post reflects concerns about federal priorities regarding renewable energy development in Morro Bay.

Later that day, Carbajal commented on military leadership by stating: “I stand by what I said. What else do you call a Defense Secretary who launches an illegal war with no exit plan — and confuses a Pulp Fiction line for a Bible verse?” (April 29, 2026).

On April 30, 2026, Carbajal addressed judicial decisions affecting electoral law: “This Supreme Court decision is another blow to voting rights and continues to take us backwards. Congress must intervene and pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to defend Americans’ civil rights.”

Salud Carbajal has represented California’s 24th District since 2017 after succeeding Lois Capps. Prior to his tenure in Congress, he served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara, Carbajal earned his BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1990.
