Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform this week to criticize President Donald Trump and members of his administration on several issues, including economic priorities, constitutional concerns, and freedom of speech.
On September 16, 2025, Carbajal addressed economic challenges facing Americans and questioned the president’s focus: “Millions of Americans are struggling to find a job. Instead of trying to fix the economy, President Trump is focused on building his new White House ballroom. Mr. President, Americans don’t need a ballroom — they need good-paying jobs.”
The following day, September 17, Carbajal raised concerns about constitutional violations by former President Trump: “From deporting people without due process to openly talking about running for an un-Constitutional third term, Donald Trump is attacking our Constitution on an unprecedented scale. That’s why, on Constitution Day, I continue to call on the Supreme Court and Congressional”
On September 18, he criticized what he described as censorship involving television host Jimmy Kimmel: “Pulling Jimmy Kimmel off the air is an outrageous and dangerous attack on free speech. If the Trump administration isn’t held accountable for this blatant censorship, we’re at risk of losing our First Amendment rights. I’m calling on FCC Chair Brendan Carr to resign immediately.”
Salud Carbajal has represented California’s 24th District in Congress since 2017 after serving over a decade on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors. He was born in MoroleĂłn, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently resides in Santa Barbara. Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990.
