Rep. Salud Carbajal, a member of the U.S. Congress representing California’s 24th district, has recently posted a series of tweets criticizing national leadership and addressing rising utility costs.
On December 4, 2025, Carbajal commented on presidential promises regarding affordability: “Ironic words from the President who promised to lower costs on ‘Day One.'”
Later that same day, he reiterated his position on another public figure, stating: “I stand by what I said earlier this year: Hegseth needs to resign immediately.”
The following day, December 5, Carbajal addressed the issue of electricity prices under former President Donald Trump’s administration: “Despite Donald Trump’s promise to slash the cost of electricity, Americans have seen their bills soar by 11% since he took office. Families should not have to cut back on essentials just to keep the lights on.”
Carbajal has served in Congress since 2017 after replacing Lois Capps. Before his tenure in Washington, he was a member of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara, Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in 1990.
