Representative Salud Carbajal, who serves California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets addressing national political control, celebrating California’s statehood anniversary, and calling for action on gun violence.
On September 9, 2025, Carbajal remarked on the current political landscape with a post stating, “In case anyone forgot… Republicans control the House. Republicans control the Senate. Republicans control the White House.” This tweet highlights the Republican Party’s dominance across all major branches of government at this time.
Later that day, Carbajal commemorated California’s milestone anniversary by writing, “Happy 175th Birthday, California. From our farms and coasts to our clean-energy future, California embodies progress and opportunity. I’m proud to represent the Central Coast in Congress and help ensure California’s best days are still ahead. ¡Feliz cumpleaños, California!” The message reflects his pride in representing his home state and its diverse contributions.
On September 10, 2025, Carbajal addressed ongoing concerns about public safety and legislative inaction regarding gun violence: “My @HouseGVP colleagues and I are calling on @SpeakerJohnson to finally act on the gun violence epidemic devastating our communities. No child should have to fear for their life at school, no family should feel unsafe at the grocery store, and no one should be gunned down in”
Salud Carbajal has represented California’s 24th district since 2017 after serving on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. He was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently resides in Santa Barbara. In addition to his congressional service since replacing Lois Capps in 2017, Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1990.
