Rep. Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congress member representing California’s 24th district since 2017, recently addressed several concerns through his social media platform. Carbajal’s posts touched on issues affecting veterans, an art competition for local high school students, and legislative efforts to boost child care access.

On April 16, Carbajal expressed concern over veteran support, criticizing former President Trump’s administration. He stated that, “Trump claims to care about veterans, yet last week, I heard directly from veterans who were wrongfully laid off by his Administration.” Carbajal conveyed that the veterans he spoke with shared grievances about reduced benefits and critical funding cuts to the Veterans Administration under Trump’s leadership.

In another tweet the same day, Carbajal addressed Central Coast high school students, reminding them of the deadline for participation in the Congressional Art Competition. He wrote, ” Central Coast High School students: today’s the last day to submit your artwork!” Carbajal highlighted this as an opportunity for local students to showcase their artistic talents in the national competition.

The following day, April 17, Carbajal emphasized the importance of child care access for working families. He announced the introduction of new legislation aimed at this issue, stating, “One of the biggest ways we can support working families is by increasing access to child care.” This effort aligns with Carbajal’s commitment to bolstering family support systems through legislative measures.

Salud Carbajal, born in Moroleón, Guanajuato, and currently residing in Santa Barbara, has a background in public service, including tenure on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. He graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1990 with a BA. His ongoing work in Congress focuses on addressing local and national concerns, impacting his constituency and beyond.
