Representative Salud Carbajal, serving California’s 24th district, has taken to social media to express his views on several issues, ranging from economic impacts to educational opportunities and historical commemorations. Carbajal, who succeeded Lois Capps in 2017 and has a background in county-level leadership, frequently addresses his followers on matters of both local and national importance.
On April 23, 2025, Carbajal criticized former President Donald Trump’s trade policies in a tweet, stating, “Donald Trump’s trade war is a war on the American economy. It’s driving up prices for families, hurting small businesses, and slowing our country’s economic growth.”
Later the same day, Carbajal extended an invitation to students interested in military service, particularly focusing on educational opportunities. He tweeted, ” Calling all Central Coast students! Interested in attending one of our nation’s five military service academies? Join us for an Information Night to learn about the application process and get your questions answered. In recognition of Yom HaShoah, Carbajal conveyed a message of remembrance and prevention of past atrocities. He tweeted, “On Yom HaShoah, we honor the memories of the six million innocent Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust at the hands of the Nazi regime. It is our duty to fight against hate to ensure such a horrific atrocity is never repeated.”
Carbajal, born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and a resident of Santa Barbara, holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. His career journey includes serving on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017.
