Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently posted a series of messages on his official social media account addressing trade policy, international alliances, and holiday greetings.
On April 4, 2026, Carbajal commented on the anniversary of tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump: “It’s been a year since Trump imposed his reckless tariffs. He claimed other countries would pay the tariffs, but it’s now clear that American families and businesses bore the brunt of these extra costs. The Supreme Court correctly ruled that these tariffs are illegal, and I” (posted April 4, 2026).
Later that day, Carbajal addressed the importance of NATO for U.S. national security: “Since 1949, NATO has been a critical part of our country’s national security, which is why the alliance has over 70 years of bipartisan support. Giving up on NATO would be a big gift to Putin and our other adversaries. I will continue to support the alliance and push for stronger” (posted April 4, 2026).
On April 5, he shared a message marking Easter: “Happy Easter, Central Coast! Wishing joy, love, and renewal to all who celebrate.” (posted April 5, 2026).
Salud Carbajal has served as the congressional representative for California’s 24th District since replacing Lois Capps in 2017. Before his election to Congress, he was a member of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in 1990.
