Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, addressed his constituents on social media with messages marking Pride Month, encouraging voter participation, and criticizing federal food assistance policy changes.
On June 1, 2026, Carbajal posted a message recognizing LGBTQ+ trailblazers and calling for continued advocacy. He wrote, “Happy Pride, Central Coast! This month is a time to honor the trailblazers who fought for equality, reflect on how far we’ve come, and recommit to creating a world where everyone can live authentically and love freely.”
Later that day, he reminded Central Coast residents about Election Day. In his post dated June 1, 2026, he stated, “Central Coast, it’s time to vote! Tomorrow is Election Day — make sure your voice is heard. Be sure to return your mail-in ballot, or find your nearest polling station!”
The following day, Carbajal criticized actions by the Trump administration affecting food assistance programs. On June 2, 2026, he posted, “As families across the Central Coast struggle to afford groceries, the Trump administration is stripping people of critical food assistance programs like SNAP. I believe access to food is a fundamental human right and will keep fighting to stop the Trump cuts to SNAP.”
Carbajal has represented California’s 24th District in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Lois Capps and previously served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in 1990.
