Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of messages on his official Twitter account addressing scientific achievement, domestic violence awareness, and military safety concerns.
On October 17, 2025, Carbajal recognized the recipients of the Nobel Prize in Physics, stating: “Congratulations to John Clarke, Michel Devoret, and John Martinis on winning the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physics for their groundbreaking work in quantum mechanics! Their discoveries drive the frontiers of technology, and I’m proud that UCSB and California are leading the way.”
The following day, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Carbajal shared a message of support for survivors: “During Domestic Violence Awareness Month, we honor the bravery of survivors of domestic violence. If you or a loved one is a victim of domestic violence, call the 24-hour National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-SAFE. https://t.co/hohMxczOho” (October 18, 2025).
Later on October 18, Carbajal addressed public safety regarding military practices: “Firing live explosives over one of the busiest highways in America is wildly reckless and completely unnecessary. We honor our troops with respect—not dangerous stunts. There are far better ways to show the Marines our gratitude.
Carbajal has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after previously working on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. He was born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and resides in Santa Barbara. Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1990 with a Bachelor’s degree.
