Rep. Salud Carbajal, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, shared updates on local business visits, community service, and national legal issues through a series of posts in early May 2026.
On May 4, Carbajal highlighted his visit to a Santa Maria bakery: “It was great to visit Panadería Maná, a local favorite in Santa Maria. I was inspired by how Rosa has continued her family’s decades-long legacy of baking fresh, traditional Mexican bread every day. One of the most special parts of the Central Coast is our many small businesses,” he wrote.
The following day, May 5, Carbajal reflected on longstanding public service partnerships in Santa Barbara County: “Michael’s service on the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission dates back to my time working for Supervisor Naomi Schwartz, and his partnership was invaluable during my service as First District Supervisor. For more than 20 years, he served as a steady and pragmatic leader for”.
Later that same day, Carbajal commented on health care policy debates before the Supreme Court: “Health care decisions should be made between patients and providers, NOT judges and politicians. I am proud to join the Congressional amicus brief filed today, and as a member of @ReproCaucus I urge #SCOTUS to uphold the law, reject the Fifth Circuit’s disastrous decision, and”.
Carbajal previously served on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 until joining Congress in 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and now residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1990.
