Rep. Salud Carbajal, a U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, has been actively engaging with critical issues affecting his constituents through social media updates. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and residing in Santa Barbara, Carbajal brings his experience from the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors to his current role.
On June 16, 2025, Rep. Carbajal emphasized the importance of equipping local fire departments amidst ongoing wildfire threats. He stated, “As wildfires continue to threaten our communities, we must ensure local fire departments have every tool they need.” He further mentioned his involvement in leading a bipartisan bill that was signed into law to enhance the aerial firefighting fleet and provide necessary air support for first responders.
In another update on June 17, 2025, Rep. Carbajal expressed gratitude towards Secretary Becerra for visiting Santa Barbara for discussions with health organizations about proposed Medicaid cuts by the GOP. He tweeted, “Thank you Sec. Becerra for coming to Santa Barbara today for a critical conversation with Cencal Health, Planned Parenthood Central Coast, and Access Central Coast about the GOP’s cruel plan to slash Medicaid & other health benefits.” Carbajal affirmed his commitment to protecting healthcare access.
Later on June 17, 2025, Rep. Carbajal criticized former President Trump’s tariff policies in a tweet stating their negative impact on the economy. He wrote, “Instead of lowering costs for Americans, Trump’s tariff chaos continues to hurt our economy.” He questioned how families and businesses could plan amid such unstable trade policies and called for better solutions.
Salud Carbajal holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara and has been serving as a representative since replacing Lois Capps in 2017.
