Rep. Salud Carbajal, U.S. Congressman representing California’s 24th district since 2017, recently highlighted a range of issues on his social media accounts, including immigration policy, military heroism, and clean energy advocacy.
On July 22, 2025, Carbajal criticized the current administration’s immigration policies by referencing a case involving U.S. Marines working to free their father from ICE custody. He wrote: “The fact that three U.S. Marines are fighting to free their dad from ICE custody shows you how un-American this Administration’s immigration policies are. Military families, regardless of their background, deserve respect.
I’m pushing for my bipartisan Protect Patriot Parents”.
A day later, on July 23, 2025, Carbajal recognized the actions of a Coast Guard officer during recent natural disasters in Texas: “Honored to join my colleagues in recognizing @USCG Petty Officer Second Class Scott Ruskan for his extraordinary bravery during the Texas floods. His actions helped save 165 lives.
We’re deeply grateful for his heroism and service.”
On July 24, 2025, Carbajal met with an environmental advocacy group to discuss climate initiatives: “I had a great meeting with @citizensclimate to talk about the importance of investing in clean energy solutions.
Their advocacy helps move the needle on climate action. I’m proud to keep fighting in Congress for a more sustainable future for the Central Coast and beyond.”
Carbajal has served as the representative for California’s 24th District since succeeding Lois Capps in 2017 and previously held office on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, he graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in 1990.
