Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, recently addressed issues ranging from housing affordability to gun violence and foreign policy through a series of posts on his official Twitter account.
On May 21, 2026, Carbajal highlighted the persistent challenges faced by families regarding rising housing costs, stating: “Families on the Central Coast and beyond have been struggling with skyrocketing housing costs for far too long. Passing this bill is a major step toward building the millions of homes needed to bring those costs down. I will continue working with my @NewDemCoalition colleagues to https://t.co/dSsXI82b8x”.
The following day, May 22, 2026, Carbajal commented on Congressional proceedings related to war powers: “Yesterday, Republicans stopped the House from voting on a War Powers Resolution because they knew they’d lose the vote. Americans are against this reckless war, but Republicans would rather bend the knee to Trump and blow taxpayer dollars on foreign wars than help families here”.
On May 23, 2026, he reflected on the anniversary of a local tragedy: “Today marks 12 years since the Isla Vista mass shooting devastated the Central Coast. As we remember the six lives lost that day, we must never stop fighting to end gun violence. This Congress, I introduced a bill to give law enforcement the tools they need to keep guns out of”.
Salud Carbajal has represented California’s 24th District in Congress since replacing Lois Capps in 2017. Prior to his congressional service, he was a member of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 until his election to Congress in 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, Carbajal graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara with a BA in 1990.
