Rep. Salud Carbajal, who represents California’s 24th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing Holocaust remembrance, health insurance costs, and violence against public officials.
On January 27, 2026, Carbajal marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day by stating: “Today we remember the millions of Jewish people and other innocent lives who were murdered during the Holocaust. The following day, on January 28, 2026, he commented on rising health insurance costs after changes to federal tax credits: “After Republicans let the Affordable Care Act tax credits expire, health insurance costs are spiking nationwide — even rising above the cost of mortgage payments for some families. It’s outrageous.

Later that same day, Carbajal addressed an incident involving Rep. Ilhan Omar: “Horrified to see another public servant targeted with violence. This time Rep. Ilhan Omar was charged at and sprayed with an unknown substance during a town hall event in Minneapolis.
Elected officials, and all Americans, must be able to engage in civic dialogue free from”.
Salud Carbajal has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after previously holding office on the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors from 2005 to 2017. Born in Moroleón, Guanajuato in 1964 and currently residing in Santa Barbara at age 58, Carbajal is also an alumnus of the University of California, Santa Barbara (1990).
